2 A.M. Specializes In Offering You A Thoroughly Planned,
Professionally Executed, Completely Personalized Wedding Reception.

The job that we'll do for you when you hire our group for your wedding reception is as much "Reception Event Planner" as it is being the band that will be performing for you that day. We feel that the key to success for a truly memorable event is in the time that's spent planning, consulting, and preparing for it. This is one of the things that we feel sets us far apart from other groups that perform for wedding receptions. Being a good band is only one aspect, out of many, that are required for this type of event. We know of no other group that goes to the lengths that we do to plan and personalize your reception with you, to help ensure that it turns out exactly the way that you had envisioned it. We realize what a big decision it is when you choose the entertainment for your reception and we feel that it is by far the most important type of job that we do. Please keep in mind that there is much more involved with performing at an event like this than "just showing up & playing" as we would at a regular nightclub date. There is a considerable art in being able to plan and handle all of the details and the responsibilities that are normally associated with a wedding reception, as well as, being able to execute that plan in a professional manner that seems effortless, seamless, and flawless to your guests. It takes experience in doing it together, to do it well, because everybody in the group is involved with what's happening. Between the four of us, we have well over 100 years of combined professional performance experience. This band has been together for over 12 years and we've played over 2,500 dates since the group first formed in early 1996. We've performed at many weddings, corporate events, nightclubs, festivals, private parties, other functions and special events over the years. Simply put, you're sure to be impressed by our professionalism, our attention to detail, and our work ethic in planning and handling your wedding reception.

Features of our "Wedding Reception Package" include:

  • We'll consult with you in-depth to create a detailed Schedule of Events for the band to execute at the reception. We'll plan and personalize everything that will happen that day with you, from the background CD music that plays as your guests arrive, to the last song of the night that the band plays, and everything in between. We'll provide copies of the Schedule of Events to your photographer, videographer, caterer and any other vendors who you've hired, so that everyone involved with your reception knows what's going on (and what's supposed to go on) at all times. This is extremely helpful in keeping things running smoothly during your reception because it ensures that there will be no confusion between vendors and that there will be no second-guessing about what's coming up next for anybody that's involved with handling your affair.

  • Every song that the band performs at your reception will be 100% pre-approved by you!!!Simply print out a copy of our song list, highlight 50-60 songs that you'd like to hear and send the list back to us. You can also let us know your "hate list" (if there are any songs that you absolutely do not want us to play). We'll consult with you about all of your song selections, make any suggestions that we may have, then we'll use your pre-approved list as a "pool" to select from during all of our performance sets. You get the piece-of-mind in knowing that every song that the band plays at your reception is one of your favorites and that they've all been pre-screened by you.

  • We'll perform all necessary Emcee duties and act as Master of Ceremonies. We're well-versed in handling these duties for all types of events, especially for wedding receptions. As we told you above, there is a considerable art in being able to plan and execute the Schedule of Events at your wedding reception in a professional manner that seems effortless, seamless, and flawless to your guests.

  • We'll help you to select all of the normal Wedding Reception Events that you want to include as a part of your celebration. We'll also help you to decide on the specific music that you'll want to use for each event. We have a wide selection of songs on CD that are appropriate for every event that's normally associated with wedding receptions. From the Bridal Party Introductions, to the dances, Bouquet/Garter Toss, Cake Cutting, etc... You name it, we've got it. If we don't have it, we'll get it for you. If a song that you'd like to use for any of these events is one that the band already performs, we can do both.

  • We'll consult with you to help you pick out all of the different CD music that will need to be played during all of our performance breaks. From the background music that plays as guests arrive, to the dinner break music, to the dance/party music played later in the night, you get to pick it all!!! We have well over 4,000 songs on CD in our collection and we have an extensive variety of "standard" and appropriate music that's suitable for each part of the reception. Some couples prefer to give us a list of what they'd like played during each particular performance break. If so, we'll find your specific requests for you, burn them to CD and use them on all of our breaks.

  • We'll provide you with (1) wireless hand-held microphone during the affair. This is used for any toasts, speeches, or announcements during the wedding reception. It will always be at the stage, ready to use at a moment's notice.

Things To Consider When Shopping For Entertainment For Your Reception:

We always advise couples to go see any band (or other type of entertainer) in person that they're considering hiring for their reception before making a final decision. You really need to see for yourself exactly who and what you're hiring. Pay close attention to these things:

  • How does the band sound live? Note the overall clarity of the band's sound (Can you clearly hear all of the vocalists and instruments?). Also take note of the overall volume of the band (Is it too loud for the particular situation/audience?). Our drummer uses a complete set of electronic drums (including the snare drum and cymbals). This means that when we're playing, we're not trying to get the volume of all of our other instruments over the volume that's normally coming from the drums (as most bands have to do). An acoustic set of drums is a very loud instrument. To us, using them (acoustic drums) in a situation like this puts you at a disadvantage because the volume of the drums dictates what you're capable of doing with the rest of the band's overall volume and mix. It leaves you with little headroom to work with if you're trying to get the vocals, guitars, and other instruments over the volume that's coming from the drums. It's a vicious cycle. Think about it, do you really want your band's volume during the cocktail set (while everyone's mingling) to be as loud as it would be for the dance/party sets later in the night? Of course not! By using the equipment that we do, it gives us complete control of our presentation at all times, and we're able to appropriately adjust our overall volume to ensure that it matches what's currently going on during the event.

  • Note the material that the band performs. Are the songs that the band is performing appropriate for the particular audience/situation, or are they just playing what they want to hear themselves? As a part of hiring us, you'll get to select and pre-approve every song that the band performs at your reception. Just take a minute and look over  our song list to see a complete "master play list" for the band. We have almost 300 songs in our repertoire, in a wide variety of styles, so we can usually please just about anyone's tastes.

  • If the band is playing "cover" songs, do they sound like the original? We go to great lengths to faithfully reproduce the songs that we perform as you know them. And while it's OK to sometimes take a little bit of "creative license" when performing other artist's music, you can't stray too far away from the original arrangement or you end up with a song that's unfamiliar to your audience. If you'd like to see and hear some samples of us performing other artist's music, please visit our Audio/Video page to view some videos of us playing live, and listen to some of our audio demos.

  • Take note of how the band interacts with a crowd. How a group presents themselves live to an audience is a good indicator of the job that they'll do for you and the professionalism with which they'll handle your reception. If you'd like to come to see us for yourself, please just take a look at our calendar to see where we're playing each week. We welcome you to attend one of our club dates anonymously when you're shopping for entertainment for your event, or by all means, please feel free to introduce yourself and say hello.

  • What about the equipment the band uses? The band's equipment should be high quality, professional gear, in good working order. We use over $40k worth of equipment when performing for events such as this. We use only the best. Our P.A. speakers are a high quality, completely matched system by JBL Professional (SRX-Series). Our mixing console (Crest Audio XR-20) and other outboard gear rivals that of anyone you'll see, anywhere. We've gone to great lengths and expense to build our system. When it comes to the equipment that you depend on every night, there are no shortcuts, and we've taken none with the equipment that we use. If you'd like a detailed list of our equipment, we'll be happy to provide you with one upon request.

  • Band or D.J., which should you hire? The entertainment that you hire is one of the most important decisions, if not the most important decision about your reception that you'll make. It will ultimately make or break your event. If you've done any research into this, you've likely found that there are a lot of opinions out there that make arguments for both sides of this question. We're not going to bore you with a long list of reasons why you should hire a band instead of a D.J. When you get right down to it, there's really only one reason that people hire a D.J. instead of a band, and that's the cost. A quality, experienced, professional band will obviously cost more because there are normally 4 people (or more) in a band, vs. a "one-man" D.J. set up. Our personal experience on this subject is that we've never heard anyone say after the fact that they were happy that they hired a D.J. instead of a band. Not one person, ever!!! The real problem here is that people will often budget huge amounts of money for things like the photographer/videographer, the food, the flowers, the hall, etc... But when it comes time to hire the entertainment, they simply don't have a lot left in their budget, so they go with a D.J. instead of a band. Big mistake!!! People won't remember the food you served or the flowers that you had 20 years from now, but they'll definitely remember if the low-budget entertainment that you hired for your reception wasn't any good. The entertainment is the "centerpiece" of your reception, not those flower arrangements on every table that cost you $100 each. Live music makes your event special because it's an actual performance. Think about it, talk it over, ask some of your friends about their own experiences. We're sure you'll agree in the end that it's worth it to hire an experienced, quality, professional band to provide the entertainment for your wedding reception.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Rates That We Charge For Wedding Receptions:

We're well aware that there are other bands out there who will perform for your reception for less money than we will. But it's our belief that you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to the entertainment for an event that's as important as this. Do you really want to trust one of the biggest events of your life to someone who will quote you the cheapest price, just to get the job? If your main concern when hiring the entertainment for your reception is the bottom-line price, then we're probably not the right band for you. If, however, you want to be sure that you get what you want, when you want it, how you want it, and you want to know that you've hired an experienced professional who will work with you and spend the time necessary to do the job right, then we're definitely the right choice for you.

We also understand that every wedding reception is unique and that not everyone plans to have a big, traditional affair with all of the normal events and hoopla included. If you're planning on having a more casual affair, or a bit less traditional than others (small casual weddings, 2nd marriages, renewal of vows, beach weddings, etc...) and what you need is (for lack of a better term) a "just show up and play" price quote, please be sure to mention that when you submit your booking inquiry form!!! What this means is that you'll be having someone else handle all of the planning, coordinating, scheduling, etc... You'll still be getting an experienced, top-notch, professional band to perform for your reception. You're just saving money by not having any of our custom reception planning services included with it. Please remember that a "just show up and play" price quote is exactly what the name implies it is!!!

Please note: The rates that we quote are for the duties of the wedding reception only!!! The duties of the wedding ceremony (if needed) are above and beyond those which are normally associated with hiring a band to perform for a wedding reception. Some ceremonies are very simple, while others are very complicated. There are also possible technical and logistical issues involved with doing both the ceremony and reception duties, as well as other considerations (such as the wedding rehearsal, etc...). There are a lot of variables involved that we'd need to know about to determine if there would be an additional fee or not. But just for reference, there usually isn't an additional charge for the ceremony duties unless there are difficulties of some kind involved that are out of the ordinary. Please be sure to mention it when you submit your booking inquiry form if you will need our services for the wedding ceremony too!!!

To secure your wedding date, we require a 50% security deposit in advance and for you to sign a standard entertainment booking agreement with us.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your interest in hiring our group. If you have any questions at all, or if we can be of any further service to you, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Mark, Bobby, Randy, & Rick
